The Talkeetna Visitor Center is the beginning point for all mountaineering expeditions.
 
Talkeetna Ranger Station

Located on B Street in Talkeetna, about 100 miles south of the entrance to Denali National Park, this ranger station is the home of Denali's mountaineering rangers. Expeditions to Mt. McKinley and Mt. Foraker must stop here for their permit and mountain orientation.

The center also offers general park information, climbing information for the Alaska Range, summer interpretive programs, and a bookstore.

Open:
Mid-April to Labor Day, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Remainder of year, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Small amounts of airborne pollutants from around the world arrive in Denali every year. Remoteness alone cannot protect the park's clean air. As global human population grows, it is likely that increasing global emissions will affect Denali's air quality.
