New Arrivals and Retirees

New Arrivals for 2009

The newest additions to the kennels are two female pups from a kennel in Eagle, Alaska. The sisters were born on September 7, 2009, in Eagle and arrived home in Denali on November 18. Their names are Nuna and Aliqsi, from the Inupiaq words for "earth" and "white sock," respectively. Nuna was so-named because of her black paw pads and Aliqsi due to her white, front-left paw. They are happy and confident little girls and have quickly won over the kennels staff and all their visitors.

Did You Know?
Did you know that in 1908, Charles Sheldon – a hunter and naturalist – described in his journal the idea of a park that would allow visitors to enjoy the beauty he saw while visiting Alaska. In 1917 his vision became reality, with the creation of Mount McKinley National Park.
