With snow and ice mostly gone by the end of May, Denali's wildlife and humans - residents and visitors - shift into a summer frame of mind.

"Peak season" begins by the second week of June, and lasts until early September each year. During this time, the widest range of activities and services are available, and this is when all campgrounds and visitor centers are open. In particular, the majority of visitors take one or more of a variety of shuttle and tour bus trips into the park.

However, a visitor coming earlier in May or after Labor Day in September will still find things to do during the shoulder season.

Please note that hunting information is found under the 'management' section of our site.
