Mixtus

Mixtus (m)

Born: 8/7/2010 Bumblebee Litter

From the time he was a pup Mixtus loved being a lead dog. When he ran free next to the team he would stuff himself in between the leaders and try to keep up. He is turning into a very nice lead dog as an adult and we are expecting great things from him on winter patrols. He is huge and gangly (in part because he is a picky eater and the ravens and magpies have learned to scare him away from his own kibble!). Mixtus thinks he is a tough dog, but deep down he is a big teddy bear and just wants lots of love and attention from everyone he meets.

Latin name: Bombus Mixtus

Did You Know?

Climate warming has affected Denali's snowfall, snowmelt, and greenup

Recent climate warming has affected Denali in ways that are readily apparent, such as reduced spring snowfall, earlier snowmelt, earlier green-up and thawing of permanent snowfields. Subarctic ecosystems, like Denali, are extremely sensitive to climate variability and change.
