Esker (M)

Esker is an excitable dog with striking blue eyes. He is one of the kennel’s main leaders, and takes his job seriously. The only thing that Esker likes better than his job as a lead dog is eating. At dinner time he jumps in circles and slobbers all over his face, much to our amusement. He can gobble down his meal faster than any dog we have ever seen.

This slump occurred as underlying permafrost melted

Did You Know?
Warmer temperatures have led to dramatic thawing of permafrost. Thaw releases carbon, as once-frozen materials decompose, but allows increased plant growth. Researchers in Denali are studying whether thawing permafrost will increase or decrease world-wide carbon emissions.
