The public is invited to the Denali Subsistence Resource Commission meeting taking place on Monday, August 27 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Cantwell Community Center. The commission will consider a range of issues related to subsistence hunting and fishing in the 1980 additions to Denali National Park and Preserve. Agenda items for the meeting include: updates on the Federal subsistence management program, the traditional moosehide boat project in Cantwell, registration hunts in game management units 16B and 20C, and Denali National Park and Preserve’s Resource Stewardship Strategy. Public testimony opportunities will be provided.

After the commission meeting the public is invited to the community potluck honoring Nick and Verdrisia Dennis of Nikolai. The potluck will begin at 5:30 p.m. and attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Through the support of the Murie Science and Learning Center and Alaska Natural History Association, the Dennis’ will be in Cantwell this fall to work with students on the construction of a traditional moosehide boat.
