Michael Henson will be on hand for a book signing and reading of his writings at the Paul Laurence Dunbar House.  Originally from Sidney, Ohio, Michael Henson is author of four books of fiction and four collections of poetry. His most recent work,The Way the World Is: the Maggie Boylan Stories, is winner of the 2014 Brighthorse Prize in Short Fiction. Reviewers have called it "exquisite", "riveting", and "wonderful, not-a-note-missed-writing and true insight into all our haggard souls." His essays, reviews, and journalism have appeared in a number of periodicals and he serves as co-editor of Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel, the annual publication of the Southern Appalachian Writers Cooperative.

He plays mandolin and guitar with the Old Coney Bluegrass Band and with the roots duo Carter Bridge. He is recently retired after several years as a community organizer for the Urban Appalachian Council and as a substance abuse counselor with various programs. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife Elissa Pogue.

Co-sponsored by Homeside Cultural Programming.
