AREAS TO BE INCLUDED
The project includes only the fort sites administered by the National Park Service. The main fort sites are shown on the map. NPS also has batteries and trench systems that are too small to include on the map. There were additional forts in the original defense system, such as Fort Ward in Alexandria, Fort C.F. Smith in Arlington, and sites in Fairfax and Montgomery Counties, which are not administered by NPS.
