  • Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) Bridge Construction Closures

    Rockside and Canal Visitor Center boarding sites will be closed through Apr 27. From Jan 18 - Mar 16, CVSR will operate between Akron Northside and Brecksville stations. From Mar 22 - Apr, CVSR will operate between Akron Northside and Peninsula. More »

    Many people enjoy feeding waterfowl and birds, but the effects of this seemingly generous act can be harmful. Regular feeding can cause: unatural behavior, pollution, overcrowding, delayed migration, and poor nutrition and disease.

    Due to the government shutdown, we were unable to survey the fish community in VK Lake as scheduled. Our survey partners (ODNR) will not be able to get into the lake until early spring of 2014. Therefore, the closure on fishing will remain in effect. More »

Shearing Days
Watch a sheep-shearing demonstration, help shear, join the Adopt-a-Sheep program, and shop for a custom heirloom blanket.  Fee: $10 adults, $5 children. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays, April 5 - 6 and April 12 - 13
Lambing Days
See newborn lambs, ducklins, chicks, and bunnies. Fee: $10 adults, $5 children. Private group visits can also be arranged. Saturdays, 9 - 11 a.m. and Sundays 2 - 4 p.m.

Saturday, April 19
The Blessing of the Sheep
See the annual Blessing of the Sheep with bagpipes and herding demonstrations. Fee: $10 adults, $5 children. Noon - 2 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, May 3 - 4
Herding Training Clinic
All breeds and levels welcome in this two-day clinic with Lyle Lad, who has been training and trialing dogs for nearly 30 years. Fee: $200 per dog/handler team for both days. $50 per day to audit. Begins at 8 a.m.

Saturday, May 10
Herding Behavioral Seminar
Ken McCort explains the behavioral aspects of why herding dogs do what they do and provides training tips to help you perfect this art form. Fee: $20. 1 - 3 p.m.
