  • Tuesday, June 10 - Volunteer Enrichment Series Location Change

    Tonight's Volunteer Enrichment Series will now be held at Happy Days Lodge, located at 500 West Streetsboro Road (SR 303), Peninsula 44264. Refreshments start at 6:30 p.m., presentation at 7 p.m. It was originally scheduled for Basket of Life Farm.

  • Brandywine Creek Foot Bridge Closed

    The footbridge that crosses over the Brandywine Creek on the Brandywine Gorge Trail is closed due to damage sustained during a recent storm. The trail remains open but there is no detour. Visitors will need to backtrack to get back to parking lot. More »

National Park Reopens Sections of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail

Brecksville, Ohio – The National Park Service has reopened sections of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park from Canal Visitor Center in Valley View to Boston Store Visitor Center in Peninsula, and then from Lock 29 Trailhead in Peninsula to Botzum Trailhead in Akron.

The following sections of the Towpath Trail remain closed due to flood damage:

  • Lock 39 Trailhead to Canal Visitor Center
  • Holzhauer Road Access & Parking Lot
  • Boston Store Visitor Center to Lock 29 Trailhead
  • Ira Road Trailhead Connector and Parking Lot

Please respect all park closures for the safety of visitors, resources, and park staff.

November is the time to be on the lookout for bald eagles performing aerial courtship displays. Once eagles have selected each other, they plunge through the air in very high dives, locking their talons and breaking apart just when it looks as though they will crash to the ground.
