Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Peninsula, Ohio (Tuesday, July 26, 2011) - The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park is featuring critically acclaimed vocalist Helen Welch at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Happy Days Lodge as part of a new concert series, Music by Nature.

A native of England, Welch is known throughout the United Kingdom for her musical theatre roles and one-woman shows. Upon moving to the U.S. in 2003, she began appearing in venues throughout the northeast and immediately began cultivating a devoted group of fans.

She possesses a knack for choosing songs that stand the test of time and continually finds ways to put her own twist on them - allowing the audience to reminisce and relive the classics.

Welch and her talented trio of musicians will perform Broadway love songs from Wicked, A Chorus Line, Carousel, Guys and Dolls, My Fair Lady, Chicago, and South Pacific for this upcoming performance.

The performance is held at Happy Days Lodge and begins at 6:30 p.m. The Lodge's screen porch will open at 5 p.m. for picnicking. Admission is $20 for general public and $17 for Conservancy members. Audience members are invited to mingle with the artists at a dessert reception following the concert. All tickets are for general seating. Advance sales are available until 3 p.m. on Friday for that Sunday's show. Call 330-657-2909 ext 100.

Call the Cultural Arts Hotline at 330-650-4636 ext 228 after 2 p.m. for ticket availability and weather cancellations. To learn more about Welch, please visit her website at www.helenwelch.com.

The Ohio & Erie Canal, which runs through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, was a 308-mile waterway connecting Lake Erie to the Ohio River. This transportation route, which influenced local and national prosperity, was dug entirely by hand by mostly German and Irish immigrants.
