Brecksville, Ohio – On Sunday, May 18, 2014, Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park will host their last monthly house concert of the season. The series features former CVNP Artist-in-Residence Ed Caner who serves as both musician and host. The series, which occurs on the third Sunday of every month through May, highlights local guest performers and different styles of music in the intimate setting of a restored bank barn, on the Hines Hill Campus.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission: $8 adults, $6 Conservancy members. Seating is limited. Violinist/Fiddler Ed Caner has been labeled by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as, "One of the most versatile musicians on the planet." During the past 15 years, he has performed as a sideman for over 50 major acts. Joining Ed this month will be Shivering Timbers, an Akron folk group composed of Sarah and Jayson Benn and joined by Daniel Kshywonis. Their story developed when Sarah and Jayson Benn started singing and crafting songs for their infant daughter. As she grew, the music began to take shape, and a band was born. Since then, they have been honing their craft on relentless tour stops with Shovels & Rope, Jessica Lea Mayfield, The Chapin Sisters, Kenny Loggins, and many others. Loggins said, "Shivering Timbers sounds like the future of folk music."
Hines Hill Conference Center is located at 1403 W. Hines Hill Road in Peninsula. This is approximately one mile east of Riverview Road. CVNP encompasses 33,000 acres along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. Managed by the National Park Service, CVNP combines cultural, historical, recreational, and natural activities in one setting. For more information visit www.nps.gov/cuva or call 330-657-2752.
