Riverview Road Closure
Riverview Rd from the Cuyahoga Falls line north to the Peninsula line will be re-paved, beginning the week of April 22. Expect delays. Flaggers will direct traffic. Final resurfacing and striping will take place following the Memorial Day holiday.

Bald Eagle Closure in Effect
RR tracks, and 30 foot right of way on either side, are closed to all foot traffic from the Rt. 82 Bridge at Station Rd, north to the RR tracks at. The Cuyahoga R. downstream of the Brecksville Dam to the Fitzwater Rd Bridge is closed to water activities.

Brecksville, Ohio - Akron-based Hey Mavis will take to the stage at Happy Days Lodge as part of the Cuyahoga Valley Heritage Series. The show begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). Doors open at 7p.m. The group's performance is presented by the National Park Service and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, celebrating the cultural legacy of the Cuyahoga Valley. The series is sponsored by Courtyard Marriott-Akron/Stow, 89.7 WKSU, Lloyd L. & Louise K. Smith Foundation, and Cable 9. A CD signing and dessert reception will follow the concert. Special Admission for this event: $12 for adults, $5 children ages 3 - 12. General seating. Advance sales are available until 3 p.m. on Friday for that weekend's show by calling 330-657-2909. The music of Hey Mavis can only be described as "Appalachian Americana". With banjo, fiddle, upright bass, guitar, kick drum, and harmonica, the quartet effortlessly moves from a softly orchestrated lullaby to a raw and raucous love song. "The songs feel soulful, they have dirt and substance," says Hey Mavis founder Laurie Michelle Caner. "There is a sense of being grounded and close to the earth and we try to breathe life into everything we do." Following their 2012 summer tour, during which Hey Mavis achieved notoriety as a finalist in the highly acclaimed Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest, founding band members Laurie (banjo/vocals/songwriting) and Ed Caner (fiddle/viola) started working with two additional musicians. New to Hey Mavis are Cleveland songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Brent Kirby and seasoned upright bassist, Bryan Thomas. Honey Man is produced by the legendary Don Dixon (REM, Red Clay Ramblers, Smithereens), who also produced their first CD, Red Wine. When speaking of the new CD, Don said, "Wrapped in original songs whose styles range from old timey to jazzy to blistering alt rock, Laurie's voice turns from cold steel to melted butter in the time it takes your heart to break." Happy Days Lodge, located at 500 West Streetsboro Road (State Route 303) in Peninsula 44264, 1 mile west of State Route 8, is a restored Civilian Conservation Corps structure that provides a rustic ambiance for folk and traditional concerts, theater, lectures, and special event rentals.
