Fatality in Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Brecksville, Ohio - About 11 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, Cuyahoga Valley National Park received a report that a male visitor had fallen into the Cuyahoga River near SR 82 Bridge in Sagamore Hills, Ohio. The area surrounding the SR 82 dam, north of Station Road Bridge Trailhead in Cuyahoga Valley National Park is now closed for the investigation. This includes sections of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. The National Park Service is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Cleveland Metro Parks, Sagamore Hills Police Department, the Northfield Center Fire Department, and other local agencies.

November is the time to be on the lookout for bald eagles performing aerial courtship displays. Once eagles have selected each other, they plunge through the air in very high dives, locking their talons and breaking apart just when it looks as though they will crash to the ground.
