Brandywine Creek Foot Bridge Closed
The footbridge that crosses over the Brandywine Creek on the Brandywine Gorge Trail is closed due to damage sustained during a recent storm. The trail remains open but there is no detour. Visitors will need to backtrack to get back to parking lot. More »

Brecksville, Ohio – On Sunday, January 16, 2011, Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) and Cuyahoga National Park Association (CVNPA) host their monthly house concert featuring former CVNP Artist-in-Residence Ed Caner who serves as both musician and host. The series, which occurs on the third Sunday of every month through May, will highlight local guest performers and different styles of music in the intimate setting of a restored bank barn, on the Hines Hill Campus. Concert starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission: $8 adults, $6 CVNPA members. Advance sales are recommended and are available by calling 330-657-2909. Seating is limited. The hotline is updated at 2 p.m. the day of every concert and is intended to inform callers of sold-out events or weather-related cancellations.
Violinist/Fiddler Ed Caner has been labeled by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as, "One of the most versatile musicians on the planet." During the past 15 years, he has performed as a sideman for over 50 major acts, including Smokey Robinson, Page and Plant, Natalie Cole, Luciano Pavarotti, Mel Torme, Ray Price, and Leftover Salmon. He served as interim Concertmaster of the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and performed as section violinist with The Cleveland Chamber Symphony, Cleveland Ballet, and Cleveland Opera Orchestra. Ed has also performed over 750 shows as soloist with Michael Stanley, Wayne Newton (Las Vegas), The New Barleycorn (Ireland/USA), and the Broadway musical, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (New York/Cleveland).
Joining Ed this month will be fiddler and mandolin player John Reynolds and string bass and guitar player Kevin Johnson. John, in addition to running the music program at CVNP for many years, has played locally in a variety of bands, most recently as a founding member of the Crooked River Stompers. Kevin, a magna cum laude graduate from Bowling Green State University’s Jazz Studies program, has played around the world working on cruise ships, touring Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and Europe. This evening will feature Kevin and John joining Ed to feature the music of Jazz greats Django Rheinhardt and Duke Ellington and others.
