  • Temporary Bridge Installed at Brandywine Creek

    A temporary bridge has been installed over Brandywine Creek and visitors will be able to complete the Brandywine Gorge Trail, during good weather. The bridge may be flooded and impassable during heavy rains. Caution signs are in place. More »

Conservancy For Cuyahoga Valley National Park Announces Two Farm Education Programs

Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park News Release

Peninsula, Ohio (Friday, May 18, 2012) - Families have the opportunity to learn about local foods, sustainable agriculture, and farming history while exploring historic farm properties in the Cuyahoga Valley.

Farm Camp takes place Sunday, July 8 through Friday July, 13. Campers will experience farm-life in the Cuyahoga Valley, then and now. Each morning begins at Hale Farm & Village with farm chores to include feeding pigs, sheep and chickens, watering crops, picking veggies and helping to prepare fresh, healthy meals. Swimming, night hikes, campfires and a field trip to apprentice with farmers at the Countryside Farmers' Market in Highland Square are included. Farm Camp is designed for campers entering grades 4 through 8 grades and costs $425 for five days and nights of camp at the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center.

This Little Farmer Goes to Market takes place 9:30 to noon on Saturday, June 16 and Saturday, August 18. Participants will explore Hale Farm & Village as its staff will introduce farm chores and provide historical context to the everyday work of the farm. The program is designed for children ages 4 through 12. Cost is $10 per child. A parent or guardian is required to attend the program with participating children. One adult may attend with each child at no charge. Additional adults are $5 each. Discounts apply to members of Western Reserve Historical Society, Countryside Conservancy, and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
