Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Announces Early Release of Polar Express Tickets

 Peninsula, Ohio - Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) has announced a 72-Hour, Early Release Ticket Sale for a few select dates for the 2011 Polar Express™ program, on-line June 28, 29 and 30th. The remaining dates will then be offered to CVSR Members on September 7th, 2011 and then to the general public on October 3, 2011. Tickets will be sold through the railroad's website at The Polar Express will be offered from November 17th through December 20, 2011, from the Rockside Station in Independence, the Akron Northside Station and the Canton Lincoln Highway Station.
This holiday program is based on Chris Van Alsburg's Caldecott-winning book, The Polar Express TM, where a young boy's trip to the North Pole revives his belief in the Christmas spirit. Children clothed in their pajama's broad the train and while riding the rails will hear the story of the Polar Express, sip hot cocoa and enjoy cookies.

Tickets for this enjoyable event will be $35 for everyone ages 1 and up for standard seating and $50 - $55 for an upgraded ticket (available on select nights). Processing fees will also apply. "We are really excited about offering tickets early this year - even though it is just for a few select dates - to our faithful supporters," commented Kelly Steele, director of marketing and sales with CVSR. Tickets, if purchased on the three dates in June will not have to pay the fuel surcharge currently in effect for all other excursions aboard CVSR. That may not be the case when tickets go on sale in September and October.
The 72-Hour Early Release Ticket Sale will be for the following dates: November 17, 18, 19 and 20th, 2011 departing from the Rockside Station or the Akron Northside Station.
The Polar Express is offered in partnership with Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) and through a license agreement with Rail Events, Inc. It has been an on-going tradition for families across Northeast Ohio for over 16 years.
CVSR is a private sector, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) volunteer supported organization operating in partnership with Cuyahoga Valley National Park and is dedicated to the preservation of passenger rail transportation in Cuyahoga Valley and the historic Ohio & Erie Canalway.
