Student Explorer North
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the National Park Service invite 4th - 8th grade students to explore transportation. Hike along the trail mules once trod, witness the strength of the valley’s bridges, and travel by iron horse as National Park Service staff and volunteers guide you along a 45-minute hike and a 90-minute train ride.
Student Explorer South
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the National Park Service invite 4th - 8th grade students to explore the cultural and natural resources of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Visit a 19th-century lock, marvel at the engineering of a beaver lodge, and view the river that spawned the Clean Water Act as park staff and volunteers guide you along a 45-minute hike and a 90-minute train ride.
Student Explorer Underground Railroad
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the National Park Service invite 4th - 8th grade students to explore the mysteries of the Underground Railroad. This hands-on program will test the students’ knowledge and skills as they attempt to navigate the decisions involved in this quest for freedom. (This program will begin at Station Road with 45 minutes of activities and then the train ride.)
Junior Explorer
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the National Park Service invite pre-school - 3rd grade groups to explore Cuyahoga Valley National Park by train. The children will learn about the national park and the animals that live there through a 10 - 20 presentation by park staff and volunteers.
