2008 Urban Ecology Interships

The Urban Ecology Science and Education program offers internships that support park natural resource management activities and increase career exploration opportunities in the Greater Washington National Parks while providing rewarding experiences to students. Internships are a good way to explore a career with the National Park Service, become familiar with issues in the field of urban ecology, and gain work experience.

Description: Internships are open to undergraduate, graduate students and qualified high school students. High school students must be at least 16 years old and must provide their own transportation. Examples of internships include having an opportunity to explore several aspects of a field (curation, research, public outreach), accomplishing a specific task (such as restoration, development of media products, conducting surveys, or monitoring vegetation plots), or working as field assistants with on-going projects or as temporary program support. Internships are flexible and dates and total time commitment are negotiable, although the program requires a minimum commitment of six weeks.
