
The
George Wright Forum is a publication of the
George
Wright Society, an organization dedicated to the protection,
preservation, and management of cultural and natural parks and preserves
through research and education. Publications such as the
George
Wright Forum and the biennial conference of the George Wright
Society are an important part of the exchange within the national
and international conservation community.
“Landscape Stewardship: New Directions in Conservation
of Nature and Culture,” was the theme of an issue of the
Forum that Nora Mitchell, director of the Conservation
Study Institute, Jessica Brown, vice president of international
programs,QLF/Atlantic Center for the Environment, and Fausto Sarmiento,
associate director, Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies
at the University of Georgia, co-edited. This issue was dedicated
to exploring successful landscape stewardship models around the
world and, in particular, highlighting the conservation models
that are integrating biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage
protection, and the sustainable use of resources.
