The written word holds enormous power to convey important lessons about humans' relationship with the land. To encourage exploration of the growing body of literature of place, the Institute has hosted readings by contemporary writers including Robert Michael Pyle and John Hansen Mitchell, and has sponsored writing workshops led by Scott Russell Sanders and John Elder.
