Crater Lake is a great Outdoor Classroom!

2008 Season

Each year the park and Center staff evaluate and make continual improvements and updates to our Classroom at Crater Lake education program for fourth and fifth graders. Last fall and this spring, our focus is on including more hands-on activities for students.

Our annual Teacher Workshop for Classroom at Crater Lake will be held in August. This years workshop will be August 19th, 20th, and 21st. More details coming soon!

Funding for Classroom at Crater Lake and the annual Teacher Workshop is made possible by a generous grant from the Crater Lake National Park Trust

Lots of planning is in the works including a long term plan for our entire education program, as well as coordinating training for teachers who come to the park, but are not part of the Classroom at Crater Lake program. We want to help them better use the park for educational activities too!

A series of parent/child weekend classes at the park is being planned in partnership with Southern Oregon University. One class will be focusing on writing and photography. Another class will be a watercolor and sketching opportunity. A third class will be a natural history focused class about wildlife and wildflowers that will involve some moderate hiking. The fourth class is planned to be an EarthCaching Family Weekend. Learn more about it!

Contact our Education Coordinator for information on our current and upcoming programs.

We are currently adding lots of new information to our website, so come back soon!
