The National Red Dirt Wildlife Management Area is located within Kisatchie National Forest. This area is popular for various outdoor activities including camping and hunting. State licenses and regulations apply along with additional management preserve permits that are available through the National Forest Service. Seasonal designated camping areas or "hunting camps" are establish in and around the management preserve during permitted gaming seasons. Be careful to observe gun safety and hunting regulations. Fishing and hunting licenses may be purchased at retail outlets or at the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.

The lastest movie (April, May 2007) being filmed in our region is "For Sale by Owner". This is a suspense, thriller starring Scott Cooper and Tom Skerritt. The setting for this scene is at Magnolia Plantation. It provided the perfect backdrop for this scarry movie.
