Getting involved with the National Park Service can be as simple as picking up a single piece of trash during your visit to a park, or as involved as pursuing a career with the federal government. Friends groups, associations, volunteers and everyday park visitors all have the potential to contribute in some way to the protection of our national treasures.
The Ken Burns documentary, "America`s Best Idea," will begin airing on PBS on Sunday, September 27. In recognition of the broadcast and of National Public Lands Day, Cowpens National Battlefield will host a cleanup day on September 26, from 10:30 - 2:30, limited to the first 20 pre-registered volunteers. The park will show the group a preview video of the Burns special.
Volunteers should be prepared to get dirty. They should wear long pants, long sleeves, closed toe shoes, work gloves, and bring water and lunch.
