Selecting Rendering Mode

Custom Elements operate in one of the following “rendering” modes, which determine how Custom Element content displays to site visitors. Choose from one of the following Render Properties:

Clicking the edit icon for a Custom Element returns a menu based on the filter and security currently in effect. Below are a few common examples.

This menu displays if the Custom Element is a local Custom Element and the rendering mode is set to display current Element data. Contributors with rights can edit existing or add new data. Selecting New Data displays the New Custom Element Data dialog, with Element-specific fields.

This menu displays for Global Custom Elements when rendering mode is set to display current Element data. Edit Filter enables setting or changing criteria for records returned.

This menu displays for Global Custom Elements when rendering mode is set to manually display Element data. Select Data enables choosing specific records.Append Data enables the quick creation of a new instance of the Custom Element added to an existing set.
