Manage Trees

Access this dialog by selecting the Trees option from the Site Administration - Trees left panel to view, change, or create new trees. Trees defined here display as options to contributors adding trees to pages through the Select Tree Element (see the Elements Reference for details).

The dialog for selecting a tree gives contributors the option to pick from:

  1. All available tree types
  2. Trees defined to explicitly map to subsite hierarchy based on the subsite path contained within the URL of the current page
  3. Trees defined to explicitly map to the current level or up one or more levels in the subsite hierarchy relative to the URL of the current page

These options simplify the insertion of trees that "automatically" reflect the logic of the subsite hierarchy and save time for contributors creating tree menus. In order for types 2 and 3 to be available you must create tree that exactly match subsite structures. Each tree is associated with a specific default or custom render module. CommonSpot supplies a default render handler

You can filter for trees using any combination of Tree name, type, family, or status. Optionally enter a name string to match (defaults to any) The Tree Type dropdown displays types defined for your site. The Family dropdown filters for categories created for your site. The Active menu filters for active/inactive trees. Use one or all of these dropdowns and click the Filter button to restrict results.

You can also click to sort by column heads.

Click Add Tree Menu to create a new tree structure, or Add Tree Family to create a new category for grouping trees used at your site.

CommonSpot includes the Export to Excel option in multiple reports throughout the system so you can conveniently collect and distribute data for import into spreadsheets or other applications that accept comma-separated values. Click this option to display a table of all fields within the current report, then select the fields whose values you want to export and save in spreadsheet or CSV format. Selected fields automatically display as column heads in the CSV output. You also have the option to change column names on the fly to customize your reports.
