Manage Content Categories

Use the Manage Content Categories dialog to add a subcategory to standard CommonSpot content categories, or to activate/deactivate, set defaults, modify, or delete content categories for the current site.

Filter by type and/or state, and set or change default categories with a single click in the default column.

NOTE: You must set a default category for each document type used at your site.

Mouseover to view larger

Optionally pick from the dropdowns and click the Filter button.

Type: The standard CommonSpot Confidentiality, Document, Element, Image, Template, and XML Publication types.

State: Filter by All, Active (available to contributors) or Inactive (available to contributors).

Click to sort by document type, name, description, state or default status.

Click a category in the Active column to enable /disable availability for contributors.

Clicking a disabled category in the Default column makes it the current default category for that document type. You must have a default category for each type.

To edit an existing category, click the edit icon in the Actions column.

To delete a category, click the associated delete icon in the Actions column. You cannot delete the default category. Create a new default, as described above, to enable deleting.

To add a subcategory to the categories available at your site, click Add New Category.

CommonSpot includes the Export to Excel option in multiple reports throughout the system so you can conveniently collect and distribute data for import into spreadsheets or other applications that accept comma-separated values. Click this option to display a table of all fields within the current report, then select the fields whose values you want to export and save in spreadsheet or CSV format. Selected fields automatically display as column heads in the CSV output. You also have the option to change column names on the fly to customize your reports.
