In honor of American Indian Heritage Month, Dr. Martin Gallivan will speak on “Werowocomoco, Capital of the Powhatan Chiefdom” at the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center on Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m.

Historic Jamestown Commemorates the 1619 Arrival of the First Africans
On Saturday, August 15, 2009, Historic Jamestowne will commemorate the anniversary of the arrival of the first Africans in Virginia in 1619 with a variety of walking tours, living history programs, and musical tributes.  All programming, as well as admission to Historic Jamestowne, if free of charge on that day.

Colonial Parkway Closed Between Williamsburg and Jamestown
The Colonial Parkway between Route 199/King’s Point and Route 359 (Jamestown) is closed indefinitely to through traffic due to a boating accident that severely damaged a support piling on the Powhatan Creek bridge.

Bridge and Ramp Work on Colonial Parkway
The National Park Service and the Federal Highway Administration will begin a project this month to make repairs and other improvements to a number of bridges and access ramps along the Colonial Parkway.
