National Parks Waive Fees for Veterans Day on Wednesday November 11
To honor America’s service men and women, Natinal Park Service sites will not charge entrance fees on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11. Included in the fee-free day are all National Park Service sites, including the Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield units of Colonial National Historical Park.

Historic Jamestowne Archaeology Day on Saturday, October 3
Jamestown Archaeology is the theme of special programming at Historic Jamestowne on Saturday, October 3 in observance of Virginia Archaeology Month. Sponsored by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia, a variety of programs will be offered at the site that day, including the opportunity to dig in the Jamestown Archeology Dig Box, go on an artifact quest, and watch archaeologists at work in the 1607 James Fort archaeological site.

Bacon's Rebellion Program at Historic Jamestowne
Bacon’s Rebellion will be the focus of a special evening tour at Historic Jamestowne on Saturday, September 19. The tour, which begins at the Tercentennial Monument at Historic Jamestown at 7:00 p.m., will take visitors through the colonial townsite and present the events leading to the burning in September 1676 of Jamestown, the 17th-century capital of Virginia.

National Park Service Offers Fee-Free Weekends
The National Park Service will offer three fee-free weekends this summer to encourage Americans seeking affordable vacations to visit America’s National Parks. Entrance fees to all national parks, including the Historic Jamestowne and the Yorktown Battlefield units of Colonial National Historical Park, will be waived during the weekends of June 20-21, July 18-19 and August 15-16, 2009.

Yorktown Footbridge Closed Indefinitely
The pedestrian bridge connecting the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center with the historic village of Yorktown has been closed indefinitely after the 32-year old structure showed a deficiency in its steel support beams.
