Rim Rock Drive in Colorado National Monument will be limited to one-way vehicle traffic on Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 7:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. during the Rim Rock Run foot race. One-way traffic only will be permitted from the west (Fruita) entrance to the east (Grand Junction) entrance. The race will start at the monument’s east entrance at 8:00 a.m. At this time, the east hill of Rim Rock Drive will be closed to allow for the racers to funnel into one lane. Eastbound traffic exiting the monument at this time may experience a delay of approximately 15 minutes. As the race progresses, Rim Rock Drive will reopen to two-way traffic by stages, with westbound access to Glade Park opening first. Rim Rock Drive from the east entrance to the Glade Park turnoff will be open for two-way traffic at approximately 9:30 a.m. Westbound traffic from Grand Junction to Glade Park should plan to use the Little Park Road between the hours of 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. During the one-way restriction, the speed limit for the entire road will be 25 miles per hour, and no passing will be permitted. All vehicles, including bicycles, will be limited to eastbound travel only. Rim Rock Drive is scheduled to reopen to normal traffic at 1:00 p.m. |
