Colorado National Monument will Reopen The Upper Section of Rim Rock Drive at 2:00 p.m. Today Friday, December 23 at 2:00 p.m., Colorado National Monument will reopen the upper section of Rim Rock Drive from DS Road to Independence Monument Overlook to all traffic. Earlier today, the Upper Section of Rim Rock Drive was plowed, sanded, and cleared of up to 5 inches of snow. Please use caution. Expect winter driving conditions with some patches of snow and ice. During the winter months be prepared to encounter ice and snow conditions at any time and in any location on Rim Rock Drive even when roads in the valley are clear. Be especially alert for ice on the switchbacks on both the east and west hills of Rim Rock Drive.
