- As commander at the battle of Middle Boggy Depot, in February 1864 Major Willette and his troops surprised a Confederate force at Middle Boggy Depot on February 13, 1864. Although the Confederates retreated from the field, Willette decided to return to Fort Gibson before reinforcements arrived.
