Wessells, Henry W.

- In April 1864, Col. Wessells was in command of the Federal garrison at Plymouth, North Carolina, when the CSS Albemarle began to move toward Plymouth. On April 19th, the ram destroyed two ships guarding the fort, and drove off the other Union ships supporting the garrison. On the 20th, the garrison surrendered.
