- At the massacre at Bear River in January 1863,Connor led a detachment from Fort Douglas, Utah, to the camp of Chief Bear Hunter in Idaho. On January 29, 1863, he conducted a raid of the camp, during which he killed most of the warriors and captured many of the women and children.
