Gaillard's Company, South Carolina Light Artillery (Santee Light Artillery)

Overview:
Santee Light Artillery was originally Company B of the 6th South Carolina Infantry Battalion and served as an infantry company until early 1863. At that time it was transferred to the artillery. The unit was assigned to the Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, and was active in the Charleston area and along the coast. In April, 1864, one section was stationed at Charleston and contained 1 officer and 49 men, then in April, 1865, the unit had 4 officers and 57 men present. It later disbanded. Captain Christopher Guillard was in command.
