Celebrate spring by joining a park ranger at Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur, Oklahoma, for a wildflower walk along Veterans Lake next weekend! Learn to identify various wildflowers and how the National Park Service has used prescribed fire to help restore balance to the ecosystem.

The casual walk will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the new dam parking area at Veterans Lake. The lot is located just past the stop sign as you enter the Veterans Lake area. Please bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and wear comfortable shoes. The walk will last about an hour and everyone is encouraged to continue hiking the Veterans Lake Trail and/or to enjoy a picnic by the lake.
