Chaco Culture National Historical Park and The Albuquerque Astronomical Society (TAAS) will co-host a fall star party at the Chaco observatory next to the park's visitor center.
Solar viewing will be available throughout the day. At 12:00 pm there will be a presentation in the visitor center auditorium on "The Dynamic Solar System!" At 3:00 pm, a presentation on "How big is the Universe?" will be given in the visitor center auditorium.
Beginning at 5:30 pm, visitors can visit the observatory area and get to know the astronomers and their telescopes. A presentation describing some of the archaeoastronomy studies in the ancient Chaco system will begin at 6:30 pm, followed by telescope viewing and constellation identification.
All programs and activities are free with paid $8 per vehicle park entrance fee. Come dressed for chilly weather. Bring a flashlight and a chair as outdoor seating is limited.
