Fort Oglethorpe, GA: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend living history artillery demonstrations inside Point Park, atop Lookout Mountain, Friday, July 4, at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. Visitors are reminded that admission to Point Park is $3.00 per adult, age 16 and older.

Independence Day, July 4, 1776, was a time in history when Americans were willing to band together and live out Patrick Henry's immortal words "give me liberty, or give me death!" During the Civil War, the country was again engaged in a deadly struggle over the meaning of those very words. In the fall of 1863, Confederate artillerymen occupied the summit of Lookout Mountain in an attempt to prevent the Union army, besieged in Chattanooga, from receiving much-needed supplies. If they could deny supplies from reaching the starving Union soldiers, Henry's words might ring true for the South. On this Independence Day, we invite you to come learn about the struggles during the Siege of Chattanooga through these artillery demonstrations.
