Fort Oglethorpe, GA: Work with the National Park Service at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park for 240 hours between June 1 and July 31, 2015;then, bring your experience back to the classroom to share with your students.

Teachers receive a stipend at the end of the summer. You will also receive a weekend of training at the park on May 30-31, 2015

The Teacher –Ranger will have the opportunity to work on various projects and activities including, but not limited to conducting Junior Ranger and interpretive programs, writing and/or reviewing curriculum-based school activities for all grades, participating in outreach efforts, and working behind the information desk at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and the Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center.

The intent of the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program is to provide a well-rounded experience for the teacher in national parks as a park ranger. From their experience the teachers will develop National Park Service materials to be shared with their students in the classroom. The program will focus on teachers from schools that have diverse student populations.
