Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is soliciting bids for hay harvesting permits for three historic fields located on the Chickamauga Battlefield. The Park has three parcels: North Dyer, South Dyer; and West Dyer Fields; consisting of approximately 149 acres of hay fields that are open for agricultural leasing. Local farmers are invited to pick up a bid packet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and visually inspect the three parcels that are available.

Agriculture Land Use Permits allow farmers to harvest the hay from Park lands and use it for livestock feed or sell it. The hay lease program helps the Park maintain these fields by having them cut at least once per year. The Dyer Field permits will be issued for a period of five years; therefore they will not expire until 2018. Bid Forms need to be turned in to the Park by 3 PM on Friday, February 28, 2014.

For more information about the Park's Agricultural Land Use Program, please contact Jim Szyjkowski, Chief of Resource Management at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, (423) 752-5213 x 121.
