Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area - Cochran Shoals unit - Powers Island entrance (U.S. National Park Service)

From eastbound Interstate 285

Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Go to second traffic light and turn left onto New Northside Drive
Use the through lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
Entrance will be 0.6 miles on the right.

From westbound Interstate 285

Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Right on to New Northside Drive.
Use the through lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway
Entrance will be .6 miles on the right.

Activities Powers Island offers trails, picnic tables, and two canoe/kayak launches. One launches directly onto the Chattahoochee River, while the other launches onto an offshoot that contains a kayaking course. The course is maintained by the Atlanta Center of Excellence. History Powers Island is named for James Powers who once ferried travelers across the river.
