Johnson Ferry unit - South entrance

Directions

From I-285 East

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • Left for 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road
  • Left, Cross the river and then an immediate left onto Columns Drive
  • *Unit entrances’ are on the left.

From I-285 West

  • Take exit 24, Riverside Drive.
  • Right for 2.3 miles to Johnson Ferry Road
  • Left, cross the river and then an immediate left onto Columns Drive
  • *Unit entrances’ are on the left.

*Note: First entrance .1 mile. Second entrance .7 miles. Second entrance has the picnic pavilion.

Activities

Johnson Ferry South offers approximately 1.5 miles of trails that border the river. The trails were once a dirt farm road when the area was farmland in the early twentieth century. Hickory Horned Devil

Did You Know?
While many caterpillars make cocoons to molt into mothes and butterflies, some, like the Hickory Horned Devil, bury themselves in the ground over the winter emerging in the Spring fully changed.
