Sweep the Hooch

What do thirteen tires, a Renault, and a giant political billboard have in common? They were all hauled out of the Chattahoochee River this spring.

On Saturday, April 16, over 360 volunteers came to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area to remove trash, pull non-native invasive plants, and fine-tune new trails for Sweep the Hooch, a volunteer event hosted by the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Trout Unlimited,and the National Park Service. Over three and a half tons of trash were removed, nearly a ton of which was able to be recycled, making this event the largest trash removal in the park's history.
