Passing of Gregory Spaulding

Chamizal National Memorial Administrative Officer Gregory N. Spaulding passed away in his sleep over the holiday weekend in El Paso, Texas. Prior to hiring on with the NPS in March, 2011 Greg had a lifelong federal career that included several positions, primarily in Public Information and Administration. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from March, 1980 until August, 2000 during which he earned numerous military honors that included multiple commendations and meritorious service medals among others. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Greg served in the Peace Corps in Lilongwe, Malawi from 2002-2004 then worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Bedford, Massachusetts and Salt Lake City, Utah between 2008 and 2011.

 

Greg is survived by his three sons Paul, Joshua, and Kyle Spaulding; his brother, Merle Spaulding, and sister, Sharon (Billy) Spaulding Carruth.

 

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15th at St. Michael's, Chapel #2, Building 1592, Sheridan Street on Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The family has respectfully requested that no one planning to attend wear black.
