National Park Service Places: What's Happening

                        METHODOLOGY: ARCHEOLOGICAL MONITORING

Archeological monitoring was conducted by the author during mechanized excavation. Soil profiles were observed as was spoil from the excavation to determine if archeological resources were present and to evaluate the integrity of those resources. All recovered objects were placed in plastic bags labelled by provenience, and all significant soil profiles recorded by measured drawing and photography. All recovered objects were cataloged using the Automated National Catalog System and the National Park Service's Manual for Museums. All artifacts and documentary materials are on deposit at Independence National Historical Park in Accession # 3845. All depths were recorded in reference to the surface of the existing sidewalk. Horizontal location was measured from the existing curb lines.
