George Washington Birthplace National Monument

Photos:  Artifacts from GEWAGeorge Washington Birthplace National Monument preserves the archeological remnants of the Washington family plantation and is a model for the study of the European adaptation to the Chesapeake region. The first year of an anticipated three year Overview and Assessment was begun in FY97 by the Valley Forge Center for Cultural Resources with activities limited to scoping and negotiation for a cooperative agreement with the College of William and Mary and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

                  
Petersburg National Battlefield
