STEWARDSHIP AND PARTNERSHIPS: WHO WE AREThe National Park Service is charged with conserving the nation's heritage through stewardship of our National Parks and partnerships with others. The Philadelphia-based Stewardship & Partnership Team focuses on serving the Northeast by providing multidisciplinary professional expertise and forging effective interorganizational partnerships. PROVIDING EXPERTISEWe provide conservation, preservation and planning assistance to National Park Service unit managers as well as other federal agencies, state and local governments, and the general public. The team's experienced professionals meet the growing challenge of managing our natural and cultural heritage through a multidiscliplinary approach. Assistance is available from staff skilled in the following disciplines:
The Team develops Park, community, and regional corridor conservation plans; conducts cultural and natural resource research; provides training; does landscape assessments; and prepares National Register and recreational resource designations. Projects undertaken meet the needs of government entities, non-profit groups, and communities, often at the request of the U.S. Congress and Secretary of the Interior. WORKING TOGETHER: INTERORGANIZATIONAL PARTNERSHIPSWe continue a long tradition of assessing our heritage resources and working with interested publics to develop the perspective and vision needed to make informed and workable resource stewardship decisions. The Team is particularly well situated to bridge between groups with diverse interests and facilitate agreements between organizations with competing needs.
