We are in the Historic Area

We are located in the U.S. Custom House, the tallest building
in the historic area, on the southwest corner of Second and
Chestnut Streets. The Independence National
Historic Park Visitor's Center is located in the
same block to the west; Penn's Landing,
Philadelphia's recreational and cultural riverfront
park on the Delaware River, is a city block to the
east.

If you are coming by motor vehicle

From the North: Using I-95, take exit 22 and go South on
Second Street (Second Street is one-way southbound). Cross
Market Street (the first major crossroads; it is flanked by
subway entrances on both sides). Chestnut Street is the next
cross-street. The tall 1930's building across Chestnut on your
right is the Custom House.

From the West: Using I-76 West (the Schuylkill
Expressway-pronounced school-kill), exit onto I-676, the Vine
Street Expressway. (It is marked on the overhead Interstate
signage as Center City.) Take I-676 to Sixth Street and the
Historic Area. Turn right at bottom of the ramp and follow Sixth Street (one way southbound) four blocks to Chestnut Street.

Turn left on Chestnut Street (one way eastbound); go to
Second Street. The Custom House will be on your right at the
corner of Second and Chestnut.

From the South: From I-95 North, take the exit marked
"Historic Area". Follow the signs for 6th Street. Take 6th
Street (it is one-way southbound) to Chestnut Street and turn
left. Take Chestnut Street (it is one-way eastbound) and turn
left. The Custom House will be on your right at the corner of
Second and Chestnut.

From the East: Take the Benjamin Franklin Bridge (US 30).
As you exit the bridge, follow the signs to 6th Street and the
Historic Area. Follow 6th Street south to Chestnut Street (it is
one-way eastbound) to Second Street. The Custom House will
be on your right.

Parking: The most convenient parking is in the parking garage on Second Street between Chestnut Street and Walnut.

If You Are Coming By Amtrak Train

You will arrive at 30th Street Station in West Philadelphia. If
you are traveling light, the subway is the fastest and cheapest
method of getting to us. Follow the signs to the
Frankford-Market Line. (You will leave the train station and
cross 30th Street to your west.) Buy subway tokens from the
vending machines or the booth agent. Buying in quantity (2 or
more) results in a reduction in fare from $1.60 to $1.15. Take
the subway east to 2nd Street. Go through the turnstile and
take stairs to your right. At the top of the stairs, turn left and
round the corner of the diner to your left. Walk along Second
Street to the end of the block. The Custom House will be
across the street to your right on the southwest corner of
Second and Chestnut Streets.

If the subway is impractical, taxis are plentiful and relatively
inexpensive. Ask the driver to take you to Second and
Chestnut. It is a crossroads all will know.

If you arrive in Philadelphia by SEPTA’s Regional Rail Service
you may disembark at 30th Street Station, Suburban Station,
or Market East Station. Market East Station is the closest to
our office and offers ready access to the Market-Frankford
Subway Line. Proceed east on the Subway to Second Street
as described above.

If You are Coming By Plane

If you are traveling light, you can take the airport train. If not,
taxis are plentiful and will cost about $20 to our officefor the cab not per passenger. Ask the driver to take you to Second and Chestnut.

If you choose the train, follow the airport signs to the SEPTA
Airport Express Train Line. It is located between the main
terminals and the baggage pickup areas. The fare to
Philadelphia is around $5.00. Disembark at Market East
Station. Follow the signs to the Market Frankford subway line.
Take the subway east to 2nd Street. Go through the turnstile
and take stairs to your right. At the top of the stairs, turn left
and round the corner of the diner to your left. Walk along
Second Street to the end of the block. The Custom House will
be across the street to your right on the southwest corner of
Second and Chestnut Streets.
