Summer Activities

Hiking

Cedar Breaks offers three trails accommodating all skill levels. Whether its a shady stroll through the forest or a hike along the rim, our trails have something for everyone. There is also a fourth, more strenuous trail just north of the park for experienced hikers.

Ranger Programs

Join a Park Ranger to learn more about the unique resources at Cedar Breaks National Monument. Topics include geology, animals, plants, human history, and more. Programs include guided hikes, daytime talks, and evening programs at Point Supreme Campground. All programs are free. Check at the Visitor Center for the current schedule.

Junior Ranger Program

During your visit, make sure to stop by the Visitor Center to pick up your Junior Ranger program booklet. Once completed, a Park Ranger will award young visitors with a Cedar Breaks Junior Ranger Badge.

Star Parties

To celebrate and share the beauty of the dark night sky, Cedar Breaks hosts summer "Star Parties." Star parties involve a tour of the constellations and star viewing through several large telescopes at the Point Supreme Overlook. Visitors with their own telescopes are invited to bring them along.

Wildflower Festival

Every summer Cedar Breaks blossoms into rich beauty as multitudes of diverse wildflowers emerge throughout the park. Displays peak in mid-July, when the forests and meadows are brimming with color. The annual Wildflower Festival celebrates this transformation with a variety of fun activities for the whole family. The two-week festival begins during the weekend of the Fourth of July.
