Summers are generally hot and humid, and winters are generally cool to cold. Precipitation is variable year-round with occasional winter snowfall. The area receives about 40 inches of precipitation per year, mostly in the form of rain.  Much of the area is open fields which are subject to gusty winds. 

Good walking shoes and layered clothing in cool months are recommended.
